ABOUT THE DAY

#FundraiserAppreciationDayAU is an opportunity for organisations, colleagues, leadership, volunteers, and other important actors within the For Purpose sector to say thank you for the important work fundraisers do.

This unique day is purely about showing appreciation for the people and the profession - not a chance to debrief on the previous fiscal year or goal setting for the year ahead - and this website is here to support your celebrations with ideas, actions, and assets to help you make the day meaningful for your staff.

ABOUT THE LOGO

Fundraiser Appreciation Day Logo

In First Nations artwork, groups of people are generally marked as a circle or a set of concentric circles. These circles may represent a meeting place, a campsite, a fireplace, or a watering hole. The travel of people between several locations may be depicted as parallel lines linking up between the circles.

By visualising the work of a fundraiser as a group of concentric circles, we can appreciate the multi-faceted nature of their role and the interconnectedness of their efforts with the organisation's mission, relationships, and overall impact. This metaphor underscores the importance of a holistic approach to fundraising that encompasses various aspects of organizational development and sustainability.

We would like to recognise the artist Mardijbalina, whose name is Zoe Fitzpatrick. a Yanyuwa and Garrawa woman from Borroloola and Alice Springs in the NT. Her digital art was made in collaboration with Canva.

WHY CELEBRATE?

10 Reasons why Fundraiser Appreciation Day goes beyond acknowledgement.

01

Increases Job Satisfaction

Regular appreciation and recognition can lead to increased job satisfaction. When employees are satisfied with their jobs, they are less likely to seek opportunities elsewhere, contributing to higher retention rates at a time when the average tenure of a fundraiser is currently 16 months.

03

Enhances Employee Engagement

Engaged employees are more productive, innovative, and aligned with the organisation's goals. By celebrating staff and their achievements, you foster a culture of engagement, which can lead to improved performance and reduced turnover.

05

Creates Awareness Of The Profession

Many people may not fully understand the importance of fundraising or how it works. Creating awareness can help educate the public about the challenges faced by nonprofits, the various fundraising methods employed, and the difference their contributions can make. This knowledge can lead to more informed and engaged donors.

07

Further Opportunities To Build Trust and Transparency

By promoting transparency and sharing information about the fundraising process, how funds are used, and the impact they have, fundraisers can help build trust with donors and the public. This transparency can lead to increased donations, long-term support, and most importantly discretionary and flexible funding to support the real costs of not for profit work.

09

Connection with Leadership

When the leadership of an organisation understands and values the work of fundraisers, it fosters a deeper connection and collaboration between different departments. Recognising the efforts and achievements of fundraisers can lead to greater respect for their role within the organisation. This understanding can encourage open communication, shared goals, and more effective fundraising strategies.

02

Builds A Fundraising Culture

Raising awareness of the importance of fundraising will help build a fundraising culture and align the organisation's leadership, staff, volunteers, and supporters around a shared vision and goals. When everyone is working towards the same objectives, it can lead to more cohesive and effective fundraising strategies.

04

Encourages Professional Growth

Celebrating employees' accomplishments and efforts encourages continuous learning and professional development. When employees see opportunities for growth and advancement within the organisation, they are more likely to stay and invest in their careers with you.

06

Helps Strengthen the Not For Profit Sector

By raising awareness of the work of fundraisers and the importance of philanthropy, we can help strengthen the nonprofit sector, ensuring that organisations have the resources they need to make a meaningful impact.

08

Inspiring Participation

Highlighting the achievements and success stories of fundraisers can inspire and motivate others to get involved in philanthropic activities. When people understand the positive outcomes that can result from fundraising efforts, they may be more inclined to contribute their time, skills, or resources to support similar causes.

10

Advocacy and Influence

When the work of fundraisers is recognised and valued, it can elevate the profile of the profession. This increased visibility can enhance the sectors advocacy efforts, influence public opinion, and support positive social change at a time when the Australian Government is seeking to double giving by 2030.
